By now you all probably are aware that I am rather in to MMORPGs, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. My current online home has been Guild Wars for the past four years. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t pay attention to the happenings of the MMORPG world in general.
There’s all kinds of MMOs that come out every day, seemingly tailored to every possible taste and interest. Today, a I discovered a Steampunk MMO called Remnants of Skystone, which is an entirely Steampunk MMO.
Now, I won’t call Remnants of Skystone a considerable breakthrough in the world of gaming. It uses an antiquated 2D, side scrolling world which many of today’s modern gamers might not have the patience for. But the interesting thing about Remnants of Skystone is that is a free, online MMO dedicated entirely to Steampunk, rather than an MMO that just utilizes some of the Steampunk aesthetic for a race (see WoW and Gnomes and you’ll know what I am talking about).
And, to be perfectly honest, free to play MMOs will always have a special place in my heart. My own guild was founded in a Free to Play MMO and later moved on together to Guild Wars, another subscription free game. I like that Remnants of Skystone is a browser based, seemingly low committment type of game that is easy enough for the casual gamer to play in a few moments of leisure.
So check Remnants of Skystone out, and see if you like it. If you play past the demo, I’d love to hear more about your impressions of the game.
