Cog Generator

Today’s find on the interwebs is a simple by very useful cog generator by Colin Morris. Cogs are something of a pain to draw, but is really somewhat necessary for Steampunk art. And since Steampunk hasn’t permeated the world enough to warrant cog autoshapes, we’ve had to make due with what we can produce from within the community.

This is generally alright because the Steampunk community is full of exceptionally talented artists, but for people like me with little visual art talent, I need some help in making balanced cogs that don’t look like a third grader’s attempt at a sun.

Fortunately, I’m not the only one with this problem. Colin Morris’ Cog Generator is a wonderful resource for creating that perfectly balanced cog in just a few mouse clicks. My quartermaster used this tool when we were designing our airship’s flag and it turned out beautifully.

If you’re in need of some basic cogs, look no further than this generator.

Thanks for promoting my cog generator. Since I’ve made that one, I’ve found a professional gear generator that can generate interlocking cogs that you can build yourself.
