Anyone who has been reading this blog for any length of time knows that I adore west coast Steampunk, particularly the scene that emerges from Seattle. It’s not that I dislike the east coast Steampunk scene, only that I’m not as familiar with it.
One thing that makes me wish I was more familiar with it, however, is Dorian’s Parlor, an event in the heart of Philadelphia, at the Doubletree of City Center. Once a month, this ordinary hotel gets transformed into a wonderland of Steampunk fantasy featuring music, fashion, food and drink.
Dorian’s Parlor draws out the best of east coast Steampunk, from DJs and fashion shows to live performances by bands, dancers and countless other talented artists. There’s also merchants there to sell their wares to an eager audience.
The next Dorian’s Parlor is set for January 22nd from 8 PM to 1 AM. January’s featured guests are Not Waving But Drowning, the Absinthe Minded Professors, and Kristin Costa Fashion. A $25 dollar ticket at the door includes admission, 1 drink ticket, and Hors D’oeuvres. Dorian’s Parlor is a 21 and over event.
