Wild Wild West Con

It’s been a while since I covered an upcoming convention, and the topic of tonight’s post is that, but much, much more. Wild Wild West Con is part convention, part festival taking place form March 4-6 at Old Tucson Studios.

For one weekend, Old Tucson Studios will be transformed into the town of Rusted Gear, providing an immersive experience for convention attendees by breaking free of the standard, modern hotel based convention.

There will be all sorts of entertainment for convention attendees, including

“music concerts, a dinner theater, a tea party with a published author, a charity fashion show, a freak show art show, a mercantile pavilion, a street parade, street performers, a high noon dual competition, a fast draw competition, a gaming parlor, live action stunt shows, cabaret saloon shows, ghost tours, a masquerade ball, a mad scientist lab, costume contests, courtroom discussion panels, how to workshops and much more.”

Tickets to the convention can be purchased on the convention website. To book a room in the convention’s hotel, Hotel Tucson City Center Conference Suite Resort, call 1 (520) 622-3000 or 1 (888) 784-8324 and mention the convention’s group code #1989 during your reservation.

This is looking like it will be an impressive event, so do consider making the trip out to Arizona.

The Fright Before Christmas

Reading The Night Before Christmas tonight, on Christmas Eve, is a cherished tradition in many households before sending the kids off to bed to await the excitement of Christmas Day.

There has been countless retellings of The Night Before Christmas, from An Aussie Night Before Christmas by Yvonne Morrison to the Cajun Night Before Christmas by Trosclair. The story has been reinterpreted for a number of different cultures and peoples to best suit their group’s imaginings of St. Nick’s arrival.

And since reinterpretation is one of the things that Steampunks do best, it should be no surprise that the League of STEAM put together their own retelling of the tale, The Fright Before Christmas.

Rather than reading the same old story, why not watch this one with the kiddos before sending them off to bed tonight?

Adventures of the League of STEAM – “Full Moon Fiasco”

Today’s post is of the League of STEAM’s latest video! In this one, Crackitus and the League try to hunt down a fearsome werewolf… but not everything goes as planned! *gasp!*

Oh no! What will happen to the League after these developments!? Will they live to hunt again? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out! Dun dun dunnnn!

Be sure to subscribe to the the League of STEAM’s channel for the latest in their escapades.

League of STEAM – “Big Trouble”

My favorite team of Steampunk supernatural and ectoplasmic eliminators just released another video! Hooray! Observe as they confront a dangerous troll under the old bridge!

And they all lived happily ever after (I guess?). Who would have guessed a pair spectacles could solve so many problems?

If you enjoy these crazy videos and wish to stay abreast on the League of STEAM’s latest adventures, consider joining their mailing list. Doing so will allow you to receive emails about upcoming League appearances, and receive the first look at new webisodes! Adventures of the League of STEAM – “Two for Dinner”

The League of STEAM (Supernatural and Troublesome Ectoplasmic Apparition Management) is an organization comprised of Inventors, Scientists, Adventurers, Craftsmen, Monster and Creature Hunters, and Paranormal Researchers that specialize in the control and removal of your paranormal and supernatural woes.

In their latest episode, Sir Conrad the Vampire Hunter becomes suspicious when he accompanies Crackitus to dinner with a mysterious host! Enjoy their latest adventure!

I love the subtle Count von Count reference from Sesame Street… “Two! Two guests for dinner, ah hah hah…” And the “I never drink… wine,” line from Dracula is perfectly placed.

If you’ve enjoyed this video, be sure to to subscribe to the League of STEAM’s YouTube channel to stay completely up to date on their latest adventures and see some of their past escapades. Rumor has it that the LEAGUE has been invited to SteamCon, so if you decide to attend, you may very well see them there. If I hear anything resembling a confirmation, I will be sure to let you all know posthaste.

League of STEAM Commercial

The League of STEAM, the group that brought you my St. Patrick’s Day post, has posted a new video! This shortie is a commercial for their “supernatural elimination” services, encouraging viewers to telegram the League of Steam with their supernatural woes.

Observe!

These guys continuously crack me up. Rumor has it that they have been asked to attend SteamCon II this November. I’m keeping all of my digits crossed in the hope that they will come. You never know what kind of unnatural creatures, mythological beings, or Twilight fans might decide to put a damper on SteamCon…
